Ravendance Studio is located in Lancaster County, PA. Kathleen Kreiter Rothenberger is the proprietor.

Kathy grew up in The Pocono Mountains and went on to college for Fine Art at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. Her major area of study was figurative and portraiture, incorporating various media. She concentrated in Oil Painting , Pastel and Pen and ink. Currently her work is primarily Acrylic on canvas. She continues to take Portrait commissions.

Currently, Kathy has been creating images inspired by the ocean. Her love of fantasy comes out in her portrayals of mermaids, undines and kelpies. She loves the study of elemental beings and prefers to paint directly from her imagination.

Kathy spends as much time as she can, by the ocean and lives part-time in Cape May County, New Jersey. Where she has also exhibited her work at Ocean Galleries, The Stone Harbor Arts and Craft Festival, The Wetland Institute with more upcoming shows. She is an avid photographer that uses her images as studies for her subjects. She is very fond of all animals and enjoys studying them from her Canon 400mm lens!

As well as her own images, she has created pet portraits and started doing pet portraits that include cremains in the paint. The first project came from a close friend who lost a dear feline companion and wanted her cat to be a real part of the canvas. Kathy captured that energy in a whimsical image of a cat playing in the universe.

Often inspired by Pre-Raphaelite Art, Kathy enjoys realism, but incorporated impressionism and surrealism in her pieces. If it can be photographed, she knows she needs to raise the bar higher for a professionally painted adaptions of a scene. Much of her work has a very vibrant palette that goes beyond the everyday perception. It has been this step into a very colorful art world that has shown a metamorphosis from a tight academic training to a more expressive and free-flowing inspired artistic representation. Her paintings are passionate and are often inspiring to make the audience smile.
